Youth Radicalisation and Social Media in Belgium

document

Given that Belgium is the member state of the European Union second most affected by terrorism (mostly Islamist), this country offers the opportunity to analyse some factors leading to radicalisation among young people, but also the role of jihadist propaganda, which is often at the heart of the radicalisation process1.
This paper examines current trends in Belgium based on a qualitative analysis of biographical data collected in the context of judicial investigations involving suspected terrorists.
