Sweden (Swedish: Sverige) officially the Kingdom of Sweden (Swedish: Konungariket Sverige) is a member of the European Union since 1 January 1995. It is a Scandinavian country in Northern Europe bordered by Norway to the west and Finland to the east, and is connected to Denmark in the southwest by a bridge-tunnel across the Öresund.

The Tax Fraud Unit within the Swedish Tax Agency
The Tax Fraud Unit is a law enforcement unit within the Swedish Tax Agency, a government agency under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Finance. The Swedish Tax Agency ensures the financing of the public sector and contributes to a well-functioning society by combating crime. The Swedish Tax Agency's main tasks are to collect taxes, manage the population register, the marriage register and property assessment, register estate records and be a creditor for the state. The Swedish Tax Agency is also tasked with investigating and preventing economic and financial crime. The Tax Fraud Unit deals mainly with tax fraud, excise fraud, money laundering and other economic crimes and crimes related to identity fraud.
Skattebrottsenheten är en brottsbekämpande verksamhetsgren inom Skatteverket, en myndighet under Finansdepartementet. Skatteverket säkerställer finansieringen av den offentliga sektorn och bidrar till ett väl fungerande samhälle genom att motverka brottslighet. Skatteverkets huvuduppgifter är att ta in skatter, sköta folkbokföring, äktenskapsregistret och fastighetstaxering, registrera bouppteckningar och vara borgenär åt staten. Skatteverket har också i uppdrag att utreda, förhindra och förebygga ekonomisk brottslighet. För att genomföra uppdraget finns det inom Skatteverket en skattebrottsenhet som fungerar som en självständig verksamhetsgren. Skattebrottsenhetens underrättelseområde innefattar huvudsakligen skattebrott inklusive punktskatter och momsbedrägerier, penningtvätt och andra ekonomiska brott och identitetsrelaterad brottslighet.

Coastguard
The Swedish Coastguard is a civilian, independent law enforcement agency under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice. The Coastguard is responsible for protecting the marine environment and is tasked with exercising law enforcement, surveillance, supervision and control within a number of areas of law, such as maritime border control and fisheries protection, anti-smuggling activities, monitoring of the environment and shipping and supervision of safety at sea. This is carried out in close cooperation with other authorities and organizations at both national and international levels. The Coastguard patrols Swedish waters around the clock throughout the year. This includes both the Swedish coastline and larger lakes. The Coastguard is one of three border control authorities in Sweden. It conducts operations within the geographical limits of Sweden’s territorial waters and exclusive economic zone as well as in areas subject to international agreement.
KUSTBEVAKNINGEN
Kustbevakningen är en egen civil, brottsbekämpande myndighet under Justitiedepartementet. Kustbevakningen ansvarar för att skydda den marina miljön och bedriver brottsbekämpande verksamhet, bevakning, övervakning och kontroll inom en rad olika områden som t.ex. gränskontroll till sjöss och fiskeskydd, smuggelbekämpning, övervakning av miljö, sjöfart och säkerhet till sjöss. Detta sker i nära samarbete med andra myndigheter och organisationer både på nationell och internationell nivå. Kustbevakningen bevakar svenska vatten dygnet runt, året runt. Detta omfattar både Sveriges kuster och större sjöar. Kustbevakningen är en av tre gränskontrollmyndigheter i Sverige. Den bedriver verksamhet inom de geografiska gränserna för Sveriges territorialvatten och exklusiva ekonomiska zon samt i områden som omfattas av internationella avtal.

Swedish Customs
The Swedish Customs is a government agency that manages the flow of goods into and out of Sweden, contributes to a safe and secure society and ensures fair competition for trade. Current priority areas of enforcement are: combating organized crime, drugs smuggling, large-scale alcohol and tobacco smuggling and customs-related economic crime. In operational terms, the Swedish Customs has full enforcement powers, including capacities within the fields of customs control, intelligence, surveillance and investigation. Customs enforcement officers may stop and search individuals, conduct interviews, investigate and search premises. Customs controls are carried out at borders with third countries as well as at borders with EU member states. Swedish Customs has a Europol liaison officer in Haag since 1995 and a combined liaison officer/customs attaché in Beijing.
TULLVERKET
Tullverket är en statlig myndighet som ska kontrollera flödet av varor in och ut ur Sverige, bidra till ett säkert samhälle och säkerställa konkurrensneutral handel. Aktuella prioriterade områden är bekämpning av organiserad brottslighet, narkotikasmuggling, storskalig smuggling av alkohol och tobak samt tullrelaterad ekonomisk brottslighet. I operativ bemärkelse har Tullverket fullständiga verkställande befogenheter, bl.a. inom tullkontroll, underrättelseverksamhet, övervakning och utredning. Tulltjänstemän har befogenhet att stoppa, visitera, förhöra, utreda och göra husrannsakan. Tullkontroll görs vid gränser mot tredje länder och vid gränser mot EU:s medlemsstater. Tullverket har en sambandsman i Haag sedan 1995 och en kombinerad sambandsman/tullattaché i Peking.

Swedish Security Service
The Swedish Security Service prevents and detects offences against national security, fights terrorism and protects the central Government. The purpose of their activities is to protect the democratic system, the rights and freedoms of our citizens and national security.
The Swedish Security Service engages in five areas of activity:
- Counter-espionage, which refers to the prevention and detection of espionage and unlawful intelligence activities;
- Counter-terrorism, which refers to the prevention and detection of terrorism targeting Sweden or foreign interests in our country, acts of terrorism in other countries and the existence of international terrorist networks in Sweden;
- Protection of the Constitution, which refers to the prevention and detection of illegal activities which, through the use of violence, threat or force, aim to attain political goals or prevent citizens from exercising their constitutional rights and freedoms;
- Protective security, which involves advice to and inspection of companies and government agencies, in the interest of protecting information of importance to national security and of preventing terrorism. This also includes performing records checks following requests from the authorities concerned;
- Dignitary protection, which refers to security and guarding services for the central Government, the Royal Family, foreign diplomatic representatives, state visits and similar.
The Swedish Security Service has a liaison officer at Europol since 1 September 2016.
SÄKERHETSPOLISEN
Säkerhetspolisen förebygger och avslöjar brott mot rikets säkerhet, bekämpar terrorism och skyddar den centrala statsledningen. Syftet med dessa aktiviteter är att skydda Sveriges demokratiska system, medborgarnas fri- och rättigheter och den nationella säkerheten.
Verksamheten kan i huvudsak delas in i fem områden:
- Kontraspionage innebär att förebygga och avslöja spioneri och annan olovlig underrättelseverksamhet;
- Kontraterrorism innebär att förebygga och avslöja terrorism som riktas mot Sverige eller utländska intressen i landet, terroristhandlingar i andra länder, förekomsten av internationella terroristnätverks förgreningar i Sverige samt stöd och finansiering av terroristverksamhet;
- Författningsskydd innebär att motverka verksamhet som med trakasserier, hot, våld, tvång eller korruption syftar till att påverka det demokratiska statsskickets funktioner. Säkerhetspolisens uppdrag är att motverka de krafter som försöker utöva otillåten på-verkan på det politiska beslutsfattandet, verkställandet av politiska beslut och den fria debatten;
- Säkerhetsskydd på Säkerhetspolisen innebär att höja säkerhetsnivån i samhället. Analyser och rekommendationer till myndigheter, vars verksamhet har bäring på rikets säkerhet, om hur de kan höja sin säkerhet och skydd är stora delar av verksamheten. Registerkontroller och tillsyn är andra konkreta sätt att säkerställa att skyddsvärd verksamhet är skyddad på lämpligt sätt;
- Personskydd handlar om bevaknings- och säkerhetsarbete för den centrala statsledningen, kungafamiljen, främmande stats beskickningsmedlemmar samt vid statsbesök och liknande händelser.
Säkerhetspolisen har sedan 1 september 2016 en sambandsman placerad på Europol.

The Swedish Economic Crime Authority
The Swedish Economic Crime Authority (SECA) is a Swedish government agency organized under the Ministry of Justice with mandate to investigate and prosecute financial crimes, such as dishonesty to creditors, bookkeeping crime, market abuse crime, tax crime, money laundering and EU fraud. SECA is also tasked to monitor and analyse trends in economic crime, initiate joint action between authorities and put forth proposals for legislative changes designed to curb economic crime. SECA operates nationwide and consists of approximately 550 employees. Prosecutors and police officers of different specialties, analysts, forensic accountants and administrative staff work together in teams and are led by a Director-General.
EKOBROTTSMYNDIGHETEN (EBM)
Ekobrottsmyndigheten (EBM) är en svensk myndighet som sorterar under Justitiedepartementet och som har till uppgift att utreda och lagföra ekonomisk brottslighet, t.ex. oredlighet mot borgenär, bokföringsbrott, marknadsmissbruksbrott, skattebrott, penningtvätt och bedrägeri inom EU. EBM har även i uppgift att övervaka och analysera trender inom ekonomisk brottslighet, ta initiativ till åtgärder i samarbete med andra myndigheter samt ta fram förslag till lagändringar i syfte att förhindra ekonomisk brottslighet. Myndigheten är verksam i hela landet och har omkring 550 anställda. Åklagare och poliser med olika specialiteter, analytiker, ekorevisorer och administrativ personal arbetar tillsammans i grupper och leds av en generaldirektör.

The Swedish Police Authority
Sweden has a single national police service, responsible to the Ministry of Justice. The Police Authority is headed by the National Police Commissioner. The Swedish police authority comprises 7 Police Regions, several National Departments including the National Operations Department, the National Forensic Centre, the Special Investigations Department and the Office of the National Police Commissioner. In total, more than 29,500 people work for the Swedish Police Authority.
Each Police Region has full responsibility for all police activities within its geographical area. The responsibility includes investigation, crime prevention and service matters.
Every Police Region comprises several Police Districts and Local Police Districts. The Local Police Districts constitute the base for police activities and more than half of the Police Regions’ activities should be carried out here. Local police efforts are strengthened through assigning resources and mandates for decision making locally.
National Operations Department (NOA) leads the operational activities and decides on operations and reinforcement of resources across the country. NOA is the national point of contact for the Swedish Security Service, the Swedish Armed Forces and the National Defence Radio Establishment.
The International Affairs Division at NOA is Sweden’s national contact point for international police cooperation (SPOC, Single Point of Operational Contact) and acts as the Europol National Unit.
DEN SVENSKA POLISMYNDIGHETEN
Sverige har en nationell polismyndighet som svarar under Justitiedepartementet. Polismyndigheten leds av rikspolischefen. Polismyndigheten består av sju polisregioner, ett antal nationella avdelningar inklusive Nationella operativa avdelningen, Nationellt forensiskt centrum, Avdelningen för särskilda utredningar samt Rikspolischefens kansli. Totalt arbetar drygt 29 500 medarbetare inom myndigheten.
De sju polisregionerna har helhetsansvar för polisverksamheten inom ett geografiskt område.
Ansvaret omfattar bland annat utredningsverksamhet, brottsförebyggande verksamhet och service.Varje polisregion består av ett antal polisområden och lokalpolisområden. Lokalpolisområdena är basen för polisens verksamhet och mer än hälften av polisregionernas verksamhet ska bedrivas här. Det lokala polisarbetet ska stärkas genom att resurser och mandat att fatta beslut finns lokalt.
Nationella operativa avdelningen (Noa) leder operativ verksamhet och beslutar om insatser och resursförstärkningar i hela landet. Noa är nationell kontaktpunkt mot Säkerhetspolisen, Försvarsmakten och Försvarets radioanstalt.
Vid Internationella enheten på Noa finns SPOC (Single Point of Operational Contact) som är polisens kontaktpunkt för internationella operativa ärenden. Det svenska Europolkontoret är integrerat i SPOC.
