The Europol Data Protection Experts Network (EDEN) is an online collaboration platform established by Europol’s Data Protection Function in 2015. The main aim of the network is the exchange of expertise and best practices among a community of various stakeholders, ranging from law enforcement experts to representatives of relevant private parties, academia, NGOs, etc.

The Network

Currently, EDEN consists of over 700 members representing a wide variety of data protection experts.

EDEN Membership provides an opportunity to:

  • Join inspiring and influential figures and stakeholders within the data protection, law enforcement and EU affairs community.
  • Engage and network with DPOs, EU officials and representatives from academia, civil society, private sector, law enforcement agencies and justice.
  • Reduced prices to attend to EDEN events.
  • Share expertise in discussions on hot topics such as Big Data, AI, metaverse, facial recognition, IoT, surveillance and human rights.
  • Broaden your knowledge and follow trends within data protection, cybersecurity, law enforcement practices, technology and fundamental rights.

EDEN membership is geared towards law enforcement officials, data protection officers and experts, representatives of national data protection authorities, academics and students enrolled in master’s programmes within the fields of social sciences, security studies, law, business and IT. However, the main is to be passionate about data protection, cybersecurity, digital rights and law enforcement.

Collaboration with Universities

EDEN welcomes the engagement of master students in our events. We actively partner with universities to provide students the opportunity to network with privacy professionals and influential figures in the data protection community, enrich their knowledge within data protection and cybersecurity, and strengthen the ties between EDEN and academia.

If you represent a university and would like to know more about partnership opportunities, contact us via eden@europol.europa.eu.

EDEN Community Events

EDEN Community Events are events organised by EDEN members on a variety of challenges and opportunities for data protection in law enforcement, always addressing the latest trends in this area. The EDEN community consists of various stakeholders, ranging from law enforcement experts to representatives of relevant private parties, academia, NGOs, etc.

These are independently organised events that do not necessarily reflect the views of Europol, but follow the structure and standards set by the community.

If you are interested in becoming a member of EDEN or want to host an EDEN Community Event, contact us via eden@europol.europa.eu.
