A number of cyber safety walk-in events supported by Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) will be held as from next week in countries in Europe and beyond.
These pop-up sessions will commence on 9 November to help members of the public best protect their phones and computers from criminals seeking financial and personal details.
Law enforcement and industry partners will be at hand to offer advice to the general public at locations ranging from Rotterdam to Madrid’s Atocha train station, central Bogota and two of Italy’s busiest airports.
Fernando Ruiz, Head of EC3 Operations, said: “The fight against cybercrime must encompass more than identifying and apprehending criminals. Investment in prevention and protection initiatives is essential to guard against many facets of cybercrime at once. Every well-educated and informed child, consumer or organization is one easy prey less.”
These pop-up events are part of Operation Blackfin, an on-going cyber-awareness raising campaign led by the UK National Crime Agency.
