On 30 January 2012, Europol held its first operational meeting with the European ‘cyber security’ agency, ENISA, at its headquarters in Heraklion, Crete.
The European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) works in the field of information security, supporting EU Member States, EU institutions and bodies.

Yesterday’s meeting had a particular focus on cybercrime prevention which is a key area of activity for Europol. Specialists working online in the Europol Cybercrime Centre share their technical expertise and work together to develop effective counter measures to cybercrime, thereby providing more effective assistance to Member States and better protecting EU citizens.

Europol and ENISA also took the opportunity to put the final touches to a forthcoming Memorandum of Understanding that will be drawn up between the two agencies.
