The Czech Republic's Chief of Police, Brigadier General Mr. Tomáš Tuhý, together with Europol's Deputy Director of Governance, Mr. Oldrich Martinu, met with Czech media representatives yesterday, prior to the launch of the latest Europol awareness-raising roadshow in Prague.
At the awareness roadshow today, Mr. Tuhý welcomed participants, describing Europol's role and how its work benefits the citizens of the Czech Republic. He also outlined how Czech law enforcement authorities have already been involved in many examples of successful operational cooperation with Europol.
"I greatly appreciate the work of the two liaison officers that the Czech Police have posted to Europol in The Hague, as well as the work of their colleagues at the Police Presidium, and continued close cooperation with the agency is essential," the Chief of Police said.
Mr. Martinu presented the ways in which Europol fights organised crime, particularly investigating illegal migration and related criminal activities. The fight against drugs, cybercrime and terrorism - which also form a significant part of Europol's work - were also covered, and he gave more details about the team of specialists based at Europol headquarters in The Hague who provide 24/7 support to police forces across all EU Member States.
Europol specialists, together with colleagues from the Czech Europol National Unit, organised informative workshops and presentations for participants, covering subjects ranging from cybercrime and financial crime, to drugs and terrorism.
