news

Today, Europol together with the Croatian national authorities hosted over 80 Croatian law enforcement officers representing police, customs, tax administration and financial intelligence units at the Europol Awareness Seminar in Zagreb, Croatia.

The aim of the seminar, which was opened by Darko Žižek, Assistant of the Director of the Criminal Police Directorate, and Robert Crepinko, Business Manager of Serious and Organised Crime at Europol, was to further enhance cooperation in the joint fight against organised crime and terrorism.  During the one-day meeting, Europol experts presented their analysis capabilities, tools and activities, and the afternoon saw discussions on the main topics of counter-terrorism, illegal immigration, fighting heroin trafficking and child sexual exploitation.

Cooperation with Croatia is ever increasing, and has led to various successes in combating organised crime, such as the seizure of thousands of tonnes of fake and sub-standard food and drink in 47 countries around the world as part of an Interpol-Europol coordinated operation and the seizure of 292 Internet domain names used for selling counterfeit products.

Europol was further represented by four Europol experts and a communications advisor with the support of the Croatian Liaison Officer to Europol’s headquarters.
