On 31 May 2017, Europol was presented the European Excellence Award for its EU Most Wanted campaign. This award has attracted over 2 500 entries from across Europe.

The Award was presented to Europol in a ceremony held in Brussels, Belgium. It honours outstanding performance in the field of communication.

Launched in December 2016, the campaign featured an online advent calendar with Europe’s most wanted fugitives. The Agency published on its calendar webpage and social media one fugitive per day wanted by a different EU Member State, for 23 days until Christmas.

Europol supported the ENFAST network by creating 48 videos (23 in English, 23 in national languages, final and arrested videos) and visuals. The EU Most Wanted gained international recognition, attracting a total of over 361 000 videos impressions over the course of the month of December. As a result of the media coverage, 3 criminals featured on the EU Most Wanted platform were arrested, adding to the 32 other criminals arrested since the launch of the initiative a year ago.
