Citibank and Europol step up cooperation to tackle cybercrime

Europol's European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Citibank , in order to further strengthen and expand the cooperation in combating cybercrime. The MoU allows Europol and Citibank to exchange strategic information, information on trends, expertise and statistical data.

Wil van Gemert, Deputy Director Operations at Europol says: "The fight against the growing problem of cybercrime requires cooperation between law enforcement and private industry. The signature today of a MoU with Citibank initiating increased cooperation, is another important step towards the joint cooperation in combating the threat of cybercrime".

Robert Clarke, EMEA Director of Investigations at Citi says: "The MoU will reinforce Citibank's close working relationship with Europol in order to provide the best possible protection against the threats of organised fraud and cybercrime."
